Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

What can be better than a bright glowing complexion?  While much of your skin tone, type and complexion is down to your genes and heredity, there is lots you can do to improve your skin.  First I’ll give you some great Home Remedies for Glowing Skin that anyone can use, then show you treatments for different skin types, and finally tell you some of the best foods to eat for healthy and blemish free skin!

Make sure to test each remedy on a small part of your skin first, to check for any reactions – it’s rare but it can happen!

Home Remedies for Glowing Skin – Apple Cider Vinegar

Once again, apple cider vinegar turns out to be an invaluable ingredient in our home remedy tool kit!  This home remedy is suitable for all skin types form sensitive to oily, although do try it out in a small place first just in case.

Simply apply (raw organic) cider vinegar to a cotton pad and rub on your face, neck and hands.  Leave the vinegar to dry and then you can apply your moisturizer and makeup as normal.  This remedy helps to get rid of blackheads, reduce any blemishes and small spots that you may have and even out skin tone.

You can do away with a lot of bought products with this simple home remedy for glowing skin.  And by reducing the amount of chemicals you put on your skin this will also help you to have a radiant complexion!

You can get Apple Cider Vinegar from Amazon or iherb.  I recommend Bragg’s becasue it is organic and contains ‘the mother’ (meaning it is raw not pasturised).

Note of warning: If you are going into the sun, then do rinse it off first as it may cause burns. Alternatively just apply it at night time before you go to bed.

Sensitive Skin Tip: Many people find this actually cures their sensitive skin issues, and a little bit of redness after applying is normal.  However, should you find that your skin is reacting, try diluting it half and half with water.

Home Remedies for Glowing Skin – Brown Sugar Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

Once mixed, spread some on your hands and rub into your skin in gentle circular motions, then wash off with warm water.

Home Remedies by Skin Type

While the remedies above are great for anyone, here are some fantastic skin treatments specific to your skin type.  Many of these remedies come from the Ayurvedic medicine tradition. Enjoy!

Normal Skin – Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

Egg White Anti Wrinkle Face Mask – beat the white of an egg and apply on your face, starting rubbing it in upwards.  When it dries wash it with cold water, this tightens your skin and helps to prevent wrinkles

Papaya Glow – Not only is eating papayas great for your skin, but so is it’s skin!  Take a bit of peel and rub it on your face for a lovely glow.  Fresh is best but you can keep it in the fridge in an airtight container for about 2 days.

Apple cleanser – Apple peel makes a great natural cleanser.

Ice cube circulation booster – Rub an ice cube on your face then pat dry.  This improves your circulation which keeps skin looking fresh and healthy.  For an even better boost boil some lemon grass in a cup of water and let dry, then make into ice cubes.

Oily Skin – Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

Fenugreek exfoliator– soak 2 to 3 teaspoons of fenugreek seeds overnight.  Grind them into a paste then rub in small circles on your face.  Let it dry, then wash off with cool water.  Helps get rid of blackheads and excess oil.

Cucumber facemask – Extract the juice of a cucumber then put on your face and leave to dry.  Wash off and pat dry, this refreshing home remedy will refresh and tighten your skin

Wheat Flour Oil Remover – Make a paste using about two tablespoons of wheat flour and water, and put on your face stroking upwards.  Leave to dry, then wash off with cool water.  This will take away lots of unwanted oil.

Dry Skin - Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

Sweet Banana Anti Wrinkle Moisturizer – Get half a ripe banana, mash it up and mix with a teaspoon of honey and apply.  When it dries, wash it off with cold water, this will moisturize and tighten your skin!

Milk Treat – Take 2 tablespoons of milk and gently rub it into your face, working upwards – this keeps skin nice and supple.  If you don’t have spots you can add 1 quarter of a teaspoon of salt to the mixture, for extra power.

Peanut and honey moisturizer – Take 3 tablespoons of peanuts (uncooked) and crush and make a paste with milk.  Then add about a quarter of a teaspoon of honey, rub gently into your face and leave to dry, then wash with cold water and pat dry.

Combination Skin - Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

You can apply the remedies above to the relevant places on your skin.  Most combination skin people (like me) have an oily T zone (forehead, nose and chin) so apply the oily remedies here, and normal or dry on the other parts.

The lemon grass ice cube tip (above under normal skin) works as a great cleanser for night time, getting rid of all that excess grease and grime.
